Walk with Michele Lonati
Sunday 10 March, h. 15
at Orti Generali

For the first event of Vibrant Natures at Orti Generali, botanist Michele Lonati will lead us on a walk to reflect on some of the central themes of the project—particularly the concepts of hybridization, toxicity, and rebirth—engaging with the ecosystems and biodiversity we will encounter in the area where Orti Generali is located.

Combining on-site exploration with theoretical contextualization, Lonati will reflect on forms of coexistence, stratification, and alliance among species, focusing particularly on phytosociology – how species ‘socialize’ with each other to form a plant community, establishing a profound bond of interdependence.

Michele Lonati is a professor at the University of Turin, where he coordinates the research group in Grassland Ecology and Management. He conducts research on topics related to conservation of rare endangered species and habitats, biodiversity management and conservation, containment of invasive exotic species, grassland management and phytosociology. He is a member of the Italian Botanical Society, the Italian Society of Vegetation Sciences, and the Working Group on Exotic Plant Species of the Piedmont Region.
