Micro Street Gifts involves collectively preparing and performing a public act of ‘Radical Tenderness.’ The purpose is to let passersby and residents of the neighborhood find, as a surprise, small gifts in unexpected corners of the city, expressing, through the language of giving, a message in support of Palestinian culture and resistance.”

Participants are invited to create and/or bring tiny handcrafted items made for the occasion or small recycled objects they wish to gift to the city. The “what” is left entirely to pure imagination. For instance, they can craft small booklets with excerpts of poems by Palestinian authors, micro-posters, watermelon-shaped patches, stickers, little bags with seeds from the land of Palestine, etc.

How it works: Before we begin, all participants will be welcomed with a delightful mint tea. In the first phase, we will create the small items we want to gift, then package them together. We will share simple or clever packaging techniques. In the second part, we will explore the streets of Borgo Rossini to place the little packages in hidden corners or well-visible spots in the urban space. It will all depend on our spontaneous intuition and what the city’s architecture suggests.

WHAT TO BRING: You are free to choose what to gift to the city, keeping in mind the message we want to convey. The only technical detail required is that it should fit in the palm of your hand. The size of a miniature can be up to 5-6 cm, with no limits if the object is foldable, such as a piece of fabric or paper.

WHAT’S ALREADY THERE: A printer, a laptop, a sewing machine, paper, ribbons, bows, recycled decorations, and packaging essentials. Note: Materials brought from home are always welcome.

Don’t worry if you don’t have something ready to gift; you can join forces with other participants and create something new with the available materials.

The exchange and the simple act of giving – free from the expectation of receiving – is one way to build human connections. This is not an instructional workshop; we simply want to encourage a new habit.
